Welcome to Open Book

Starting a business like this is… uncomfortable.

Not because I don’t believe in the work, but because this model asks for something very specific: To stand in front of people and say, “What I know, how I see the world, and how I help…has value.

There’s no magical silver-bullet product solution to point to. No brand to borrow credibility from.
It’s just me. My experience, my perspective, and my ability to help people make sense of things that often feel overwhelming.

That’s vulnerable. And also… exactly the point.

What Open Book Is

Open Book is an advisory practice for people who are building something. A business, a career, a life that actually feels aligned.

At its core, this work is about helping you understand your financial world clearly enough to make confident, intentional decisions.

Not just:

  • optimizing returns

  • hitting arbitrary milestones

  • or following someone else’s definition of “success”

But actually connecting your money to your life:

  • how you want to live

  • what you’re responsible for

  • what you’re building toward

  • and what tradeoffs are actually worth it

Because money, when you really look at it, is just a tool for designing your life.

Most people just haven’t been given a clear way to use it.

Why Smart People Feel Bad About Money

Here’s the part I care about most:

Some of the smartest, most capable people I know feel quietly terrible about their finances.

They second-guess decisions.
They avoid looking too closely.
They feel like they “should” have it figured out by now.

Not because they’re irresponsible, but because the system was never designed to feel clear, human, or accessible.

Instead, it’s:

  • fragmented

  • overly technical

  • full of unspoken rules

  • and often wrapped in shame

So people default to doing “fine”… while never feeling confident.

That gap between capability and confidenceis where Open Book lives.

What I Actually Do

I’m here to help you think, to teach you what I know without judgement, and to be in your corner.

Practically, that looks like:

  • turning complex financial situations into something you can actually understand

  • helping you see the full picture, not just isolated decisions

  • creating structure where things feel messy or unclear

  • and guiding decisions in a way that reflects your priorities, not generic advice

But more than that, it’s about creating a space where you can be honest about money without feeling judged.

No posturing. No pretending. No “you should already know this.”

Just clarity, context, and better decisions over time.

Why I Built This

I’ve spent my career in corporate America leading teams, driving strategy, owning P&Ls, and making decisions where the numbers actually matter.

All the while, I’ve quietly been watching the people side of business. From individuals trying to ‘do life’ to small business owners trying to positively influence their community and make a living. And consistently, I’ve seen this:

Intelligent, successful people are making high-stakes decisions without ever being given a clear, usable framework for understanding their own financial world.

Moreover, financial advisors and accountants are making a business out of gatekeeping information and making these people feel like they are behind and don’t know what they are doing.

So this is my attempt to fix it. At least in the corner of the world I can touch.

A Small Ask (and an Invitation)

I’m currently taking on a small group of 3–5 beta clients.

This will be a more hands-on, collaborative version of Open Book, where we build the experience together. In return, you’ll get a high level of access, support, and intentionality.

This is probably a fit if:

  • you’re smart and capable, but don’t feel confident about your financial picture

  • you have complexity (career growth, business ownership, multiple priorities)

  • you want to make thoughtful, aligned decisions, not just “good” ones on paper

  • you’re open to being honest and doing the work

  • and, if you’re a women or underrepresented small business owner (revenue up to $1M annual) looking to uplift their community? Please jump to the front of the line!

If this sounds like you, I’d love for you to apply.

No pressure, no performance, just a conversation to see if it’s a good fit.

If you’ve made it this far—thank you for being here.

This is the beginning of something I care deeply about.
